Last Chance Bay extends northward from Gregory Butte for about ten miles and is very wide by Glen Canyon standards. Last Chance Creek meandered through a wide valley here before joining the Colorado through a relatively shallow canyon.
Gary Ladd describes the bay as a ΓÇ£grand boulevard linking endless cross streets.ΓÇ¥ Despite this, the shoreline is rugged and campsites are hard to find. The best bet is in RandyΓÇÖs Canyon, the major side canyon southeast of Little Valley.
The steep-walled nature of this area makes for some overhanging watercourses near the head of the bay which can dump torrents of water into the lake during storms.
